Apart from our three core areas Education, Income-generating projects and Nature Conservation,
we also offer assistance in the following projects:

Food security

Aim:  to improve year-round access to food

Results
  • Pilot-project Four Sisters Farming Method: intercropping of maize, pole beans, soy beans, pumpkins (squash) and sunflowers to boost maize yields and add variety to local diets (2020-2021)
  • Construction of elephant-proof maize storage of cement for five households (2021)
  • Pulses garden run by women's group (2022)
  • Planting of granadilla in pulses garden (2023)
As from 2024
  • Extension of pulses gardens run by women groups to enhance food security and women empowerment
  • Further promotion of Four Sisters farming method
  • Workshops for women on food security and nutrition

Access to safe drinking water

Aim
Access to safe drinking water for all residents of Chitungulu. The newly drilled boreholes are maintained by the users out of annual user borehole fees


Results
  • Chitungulu Foundation funded the drilling of three new boreholes (2015-2017)
  • Luambe Camps funded the drilling of six new boreholes (2015-2017)
  • Two new boreholes in Chitungulu: mediation (2019)
  • Four boreholes near vegetable gardens (2022)
  • Chitungulu Foundation funded the drilling of one borehole for the community (2023)
  • Two new boreholes in Chitungulu: mediation (2023)
As from 2024
  • Continuation of the project for areas in Chitungulu still lacking access to safe drinking water

Support to albinos in and around Chitungulu

Aim
To improve quality of life for albino people living in and around Chitungulu
In this project we work together with the Dutch nonprofit Stichting Afrikaanse Albino's

Results
  • Annual provision of sun cream, hats and sunglasses for two albino sisters (2016-2023)

  •  Continuation of the project

Solar lights

Aim 
To provide environmentally-friendly solar lights through subsidized sale (revolving fund) in order to enable work and study in the evening hours, and to improve safety in the  dark hours

Results

  • Over 100 households have been provided with solar lights (2015-2022)
  • Chocha and Chilubezi Community Schools have been provided with a solar light system for their classrooms (2017)
  • Subsidized sale of 62 solar lights (2023)
As from 2024
  • Continuation of the Solar lights project
