Education
'Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family' (Kofi Annan)
Our aim is to improve educational standards in Chitungulu's primary schools, notably the two primary schools
Chocha and Chilubezi (approx. 230 pupils each), which have originally been founded and run by the local community.
In addition, we sponsor secondary school students and offer vocational training opportunities to (young) adults.
We strive to reach our goals in the following ways:
Infrastructure Primary Schools
Aim: to create a pleasant and inspiring learning environment for the two community schools Chocha and Chilubezi

- Building of 3 x 2 VIP pit latrines in the school grounds of Chilubezi (2020)
- Building of 1 x 2 VIP pit latrines in the school grounds of Chocha (2020)
- Building of 1 VIP pit latrine and 1 bathroom for Teachers House at Chilubezi (2020)
All school buildings, teachers houses, toilets and bathroom have been built with locally-made concrete blocks instead of bricks in order to save on trees.
Teacher Training
Aim: to uplift teaching standards at Chocha and Chilubezi Community Schools through the sponsoring of a three years' Teacher Training course for eligible volunteer-teachers at Chocha and Chilubezi

- Two teachers (Chocha and Chilubezi) graduated in 2017
- Two teachers (Chocha and Chilubezi) graduated in 2019
- Two teachers (Chocha and Chilubezi) finished their training in 2021 and graduated in 2022

Teaching Aids Primary Schools
Aim:
annual provision of teaching aids and sports and game equipment

- Provision of teaching aids since 2012 (textbooks, stationery, paper, chalk, waterpaint)
- Provision of 40 dictionaries Chinyanja-English / English-Chinyanja per school (2014)
(also provided to four other government primary schools in Chitungulu, each 40 dictionaries,
and 60 dictionaries to Lumimba Secondary School) - Provision of English textbooks and novels for Chocha and Chiluebezi (2015)
- Soccer balls (One World Futbol) for Chocha and Chilubezi, and two government schools (2016)
- Introduction e-learning with solar-powered iSchool Zedupad tablets for Chilubezi (2017)
- Volleyball nets and soccer sportswear for Chocha and Chilubezi (2017)
- Provision of various board games, such as scrabble and draughts (2019)
- Provision of daily school lunches for Chilubezi Community School (2020-)
Promotion girls education
Aim: to reduce the high incidence of school drop-out among girls.
(In this project we work together with the Zambian nonprofit Project Luangwa, Mfuwe).

- Establishing a dialogue with the performers of local initiation rites for girls (together with the Gender Support Manager of Project Luangwa (Mfuwe)
- Provision of re-usable sanitary pads for the higher groups of Chocha/Chilubezi (since 2016)
- Launch of girls soccer teams and soccer matches for girls (since 2016)
As from 2023
- Continuation of support to girls and boys soccer teams
Sponsorship program secondary school students
Aim: sponsorship of high school students at Lumimba Secondary, Chitungulu, consisting of school fees, costs of uniform and shoes, and text books

- Annual sponsorship of secondary school students since 2014
- 24 secondary school students were sponsored in 2021: 11 girls and 13 boys
Vocational training
Aim: to enable young adults to learn job skills. Most of the students are selected through our annual conservation training program.

- Three students completed a one years' automotive mechanics training (2019)
